EUDAT PILOT PROJECT WORK

EUDAT funds pilot projects with a defined scope, matching the work hours spent by the partners.
The recently completed EISCAT pilot had the purpose to use the B2 suite of services in order to link EISCAT Level 2 and Level 3 data.
In this project we work with Jani Heikkinen at CSC and Claudia Martens at DKRZ.

Overview of system and project workflow

EISCAT Level 2 data handling

  • EISCAT L2 data files are converted to hourly HDF5 files
  • The HDF5 files are kept locally at EISCAT
  • B2SHARE records are created through the API
  • Published records get a PID and will be harvested to B2FIND.

Python software: available on github.

EISCAT Level 3 data handling

  • Madrigal experiments are searched
  • B2SHARE records are created through the API
  • The Madrigal HDF5 files are uploaded to B2SHARE
  • Published records get a PID and will be harvested to B2FIND.
